Our Green Policy
Green Escapes' Environmental Policy
Green Escapes is a company that prides itself on environmental excellence in all areas of its business. We believe that in order to provide our members and our customers with the very best service we need to excel not only in the design and functionality of our website, and in our direct service to our clients, but in all areas of business, particularly environmental.
From the very conception of our business model we began making plans on how our business could not only reduce its impact on the world around us, but even how it could improve it. Green Escapes makes every effort to conserve our resources. Naturally we comply fully with UK law, but we try to go a lot further. We decided to use the internet and electronic information sharing as opposed to mail-outs and to essentially cut out the use of paper entirely. The choice of our web-designers was to a large part based on their “green” ethos and their excellent Environmental Policy. Our suppliers are also all local.
The Green Escapes office has a 100% Green Energy tariff, where all energy used comes from the provider’s wind, hydro, solar and tidal energy farms throughout the UK. It goes without saying that our light bulbs are all energy saving fluorescent bulbs. The office is well insulated and double glazed throughout. Business cards are printed on 100% recycled card and with environmental dyes in the inks. Members of staff all cycle to work and there are almost no work miles done by car.
Over the coming years we are monitoring our energy consumption in order to see how we can reduce it further.
We go even further by encouraging our already “green” thinking members to push themselves a little bit further; to do a little bit more, be it reducing their energy consumption, or minimising wasted energy. We also encourage our visiting public to think a little more about green issues relating to them, and what more they can do to improve the local environment around them, as well as globally. We shall update our site regularly with information for the visiting public and our members on how they can reduce their energy consumption at home and on holiday. We are also producing a quarterly (electronic) newsletter with concise and informative stories and articles relating to the industry we all work in.
Green Escapes welcomes feedback, suggestions and advice from all our members as well as members of the public and will continue to do everything we can to advance our knowledge and practice of environmental protection. On a yearly basis Green Escapes carries out a detailed review of its environmental practices, although by no means waits for this to make improvements.
As well as this Environmental Policy a comprehensive Environmental Management Programme has been developed to address all aspects of our business. Progress in implementing the Environmental Management Programme will be monitored on a regular basis and fully reviewed every three years.
